Fremantle have added Jon Griffin and Danyle Pearce to their starting 22 for Saturday night’s clash with Gold Coast at Domain Stadium.

Griffin replaces Sean Darcy in the ruck, who is being managed after playing six straight games since his debut against Geelong in round 14.

Senior coach Ross Lyon indicated in Thursday’s media conference that Darcy was due for a rest.

“He’s really keen to play but Jon Griffin is fit and available, it’s about how Sean hits his markers today,” Lyon said.

“If he was short on, we would manage him.

“At some point we’ve acknowledged that he needs to be managed, this might be the week.”

Griffin, who had 39 hitouts against Swan Districts last weekend, has averaged 40 hitouts through five games at WAFL level since taking on the role as Peel’s lone ruckman.

The game will be a milestone for Pearce, who plays his 100th for Fremantle since his arrival in 2013.

The midfielder was one of Peel’s best against Swan Districts last week, picking up 24 disposals, seven marks, six tackles and four inside 50s.

Fremantle’s remaining omission is Connor Blakely, who is due to undergo season-ending surgery on his left shoulder after dislocating it against GWS in round 19.

Garrick Ibbotson, Matthew Taberner and Darcy have been named as Fremantle’s emergencies.

Meanwhile, Gold Coast have made six changes to their starting 22, including the return of Gary Ablett.

Ablett is joined by Steven May, Trent McKenzie, Josh Schoenfeld, Daniel Currie and Mitch Hallahan as the Suns' inclusions.

Jarrod Witts, Brayden Fiorini, Jesse Lonergan, Michael Rischitelli, Callum Ah Chee and Ben Ainsworth are the Suns' omissions.
