Fremantle assistant coach Mark Stone will not seek to continue in his role as stoppages coordinator following the end of his contract in October, with Stone and the club reaching a mutual agreement that his tenure end today.

After four years as stoppages coach at the Sydney Swans, Stone joined Fremantle in a similar role for the 2012 season and subsequently had coaching roles with the club’s midfield and forwards.

“The decision, which was by mutual agreement between Mark and the club, allows Mark more time to move into the next phase of his career,” General manager of football operations Chris Bond said.

“From the club’s perspective it provides us with an earlier opportunity to finalise our coaching structure and plans for 2018.

“Mark was an experienced assistant coach when he joined Fremantle for the 2012 season and has made a significant contribution to the progress and development of the club and our players during the past six seasons.

“We wish Mark all the very best in his future endeavours.”
