With Michael Johnson deciding to sign on with Fremantle for 2018, we’ve taken a look at the numbers that signify his career.

231 –Michael Johnson has been a key member of Freo’s defence, featuring in the backline for most of his 231 games.

37 – Johnson’s worn the same number for each of his 231 games. He’s made the jumper his own at Fremantle, worn by only two other players – Mark Gale (43 games in no.37) and Luke Webster (four games in no.37).

25,286 – The amount of minutes Johnson has spent on the field representing Fremantle since 2005. This equates to 421 hours or 17.6 days!

1 – The amount of games Johnson had to play to get his first goal…yes Johnson goaled on debut against Richmond in round 4, 2005. He would have to wait until round 16, 2006 against St Kilda to kick his second.

65 – Johnson has been handy in front of goal with 65 majors for Freo, averaging just over a goal every four games.

3 – The most goals Johnson has kicked in a game. He’s done this on three occasions - against Melbourne in 2006 and 2011 and against West Coast in 2010. 

14 – Johnson loves to play against Melbourne, with Fremantle winning 14 of 17 games against the Demons when Johnson plays.

72 – You can’t blame ‘Jonno’ if he was sad to play his last game at Domain Stadium, with Fremantle winning 72 of the 110 games he played at the venue.

30 – Johnson has racked up 30 disposals on two occasions, against Brisbane in 2008 and the Western Bulldogs in 2011. 

169 – The 195cm Johnson is also handy in the ruck with 169 career hitouts. About a third of these (54) came in 2010 where he picked up a career-high of 10 in Freo’s elimination final win over Hawthorn.

6 – Johnson doesn’t mind a run down the wing with six bounces against the Eagles in round 18, 2007.

22 – The most contested marks Johnson has taken in a season, coming in 2006. In 2017, Johnson took 20 contested marks, his second-highest season total.

78 – Johnson’s season high for rebound 50s, coming in 2012. Johnson was just one off this mark in 2017 with 77 rebound 50s.

340 – The total number of Johnson’s intercept marks in his career, averaging 1.5 per game. He has taken the second-most intercept marks for Fremantle behind Luke McPharlin (479).
