Fremantle players joined club sponsors, members and fans to farewell Subiaco Oval on Saturday evening at the Fremantle Dockers Foundation Ball.

The night kicked off with a behind the scenes tour of the oval before an evening of entertainment on the centre square of the oval’s hallowed turf.

Players led the tour through the stands and into the changerooms to allow guests an inside look at game days at Subi.

Guests had the opportunity to have a photo at their favourite player’s locker, see where the players warmed-up on game day and walk up the race to AC/DC’s ‘TNT’ for one final time.

A firework show lit up the night sky before guests enjoyed a three-course meal and a trip down memory lane with Aaron Sandilands, David Mundy Nat Fyfe and Matthew Pavlich.

Pavlich, joined his former teammates on stage to help farewell the venue that holds so many memories, including his famous 700th goal in his 353rd and final AFL game in 2016.

Pavlich also holds the record for the number of games for all players to have played at Subiaco Oval in the AFL with a total of 195.

“There’s plenty of many great memories here for me,” Pavlich said.

“The first final in 2003 was a great moment with more than 40,000 Freo fans filling the stadium.

“The first final win in 2006 was also a great game and the 2013 Preliminary Final was something to remember.”

Fyfe also reminisced on some of his favourite moments, including his first game in round 5, 2010 with a 39-point win over the Richmond Tigers, but said the prospect of playing at Perth Stadium is something he is looking forward to.

“It’s been great playing here but it’s time to adapt and move on, we have all had a tour of the new stadium and the facilities are amazing.

“The show that is going to be put on is going to be phenomenal.”
