Utility Beatrice Devlyn has been ruled out of Fremantle’s final game of the 2018 NAB AFL Women’s season due to an ACL injury.

The 20-year-old injured her left knee competing in the Jan Cooper Cup on Saturday, playing alongside teammates who missed selection for Fremantle’s round six clash with Adelaide at TIO Stadium.

Scans on Monday revealed the extent of Devlyn’s injury, with the rookie-listed player set to undergo surgical review later this week.

AFLW manager Wade Spilcker said he expects Devlyn to bounce back from the injury.

“It is extremely disappointing for Beatrice, who had worked very hard to get herself available following a couple of other setbacks this season,” Spilcker said.

“Bea is extremely hard working, dedicated and passionate about her football and will go about her recovery in a professional manner to give herself the best opportunity to be back out on the AFLW field.”
