Michelle what did you make of that?

I thought the girls finished off the season really well and really came to play in that fourth quarter aswell. I thought the way they started was exceptional and they certainly put their foot down which was pleasing.

Your score was the highest in Fremantle AFLW history, how does it feel to finish on such a high?

It’s really good, our focus has been the continuous improvement in this group and continuing to have a growth mindset and be the best footballers they can be.  The focus going into this game was continuous improvement and that was good to see.

Who impressed you today?

Quite a few girls contributed to the outcome of today’s game. It was fantastic to see Kellie Gibson grab her opportunity and she’ll only continue to improve when she gets more  AFLW games under her belt for Fremantle.

But I thought through the midfield, Dana Hooker, Kara Donnellan and our wings were really reliable. Ebony Antonio had to get thrown around a bit because we had a couple of injuries throughout the game. To see her grab whatever role it may be, weather it was through centre half forward, centre half back or in the ruck. Her ability to adapt shows how professional she is.

Evie Gooch was dominant today, what did you make of her performance?

Evie Gooch was fantastic and with the support of Leah Mascall who had the task of going against Darcy Vescio who we know aerially is a dangerous player. I thought Mascall does those one percenters really well. She has done that throughout the whole season and as a team defence unit they are really tight.

It was a fierce game – a lot of contested ball. How hard was it for the girls to stay composed?

Really important, what I loved about it was that the group ‘re-grouped’. Led by our leaders, they let the football do the talking and the scoreboard do the talking at the end.

How is Hayley Miller?

She took on a really courageous contest in the centre of the ground and was ready to go on in the fourth. There was some early cramping but she seems fine.

Overall what did you make of the season?

We have improvement and that is what we embarked on. We are hungry at this footy club for sustained success and we want to be a successful playing group and football club.

Overall we are happy with our season and the inclusion of some new talent into our group. Some exceptional people (have come in) and we will look to keep building.

To keep building – what are the improvements you can make for next season?

We will make sure we thoroughly review our season and in-season program, and our playing list will be something we go through. We’ll do that in the coming weeks and look for the direction from the AFL as to where we go with our playing list.
