High performance manager Jason Weber says defender Lee Spurr will miss at least a month of football to start the AFL season but remains hopeful of midfielder Bradley Hill being available for round one selection.

Spurr is expected to spend between four to six weeks on the sidelines as he recovers from a knee injury.

“Lee hyper extended his knee while kicking recently and aggravated it during the JLT2 game (against West Coast),” Weber said.

“It’s a challenging injury to his knee, it’s going to take a couple weeks to resolve but he’s optimistic and we’re very keen to get him back in.

“He’s got a good program in place and we’ll get him underway as soon as possible.”

Bradley Hill is a test for Saturday’s clash and will be given every chance to play, according to Weber.

“Bradley trained really strongly today, he’s ticking off all the boxes,” Weber said.

“We’re looking forward to having him in full training on Thursday and available for match committee.”

Weber confirmed that Fremantle will head to Adelaide without Stephen Hill, who requires one more week to recover from a calf injury.

“Stephen’s out for round one but he trained strongly this morning,” Weber said.

“We’re very confident of having him into full training next week in preparation for round two.”

Rookie Stefan Giro has already commenced his rehabilitation after injuring his knee while playing for Peel during the WAFL pre-season at the weekend.

“Stefan had a very lucky escape from the incident he had,” Weber said.

“He’s got a grade two medial ligament injury to his knee so that’ll be around about the six-week mark but he was very positive this morning and he’s already starting with his work.”
