Stephen Hill will need to overcome a quad issue if he is to face St Kilda at Optus Stadium on Saturday night, according to high performance manager Jason Weber.

With 12 disposals, the 28-year-old had an uncharacteristically quiet afternoon against Richmond at the MCG and Weber confirmed the speedy midfielder was experiencing muscle tightness.

“Stephen came off late (against Richmond) with some quad tightness,” Weber said.

“Initial medical investigations in the past 24 hours have been very positive, so he’ll be a test for this week.”

Small forward Michael Walters is expected to face one to two more weeks on the sidelines with a knee injury sustained against West Coast in round six.

“Michael had straight line running today and he was running really strongly,” Weber said.

“We’re looking forward to him progressing.”

Weber confirmed that midfielder Harley Bennell had no issues following his return to football from a calf injury after playing limited minutes for Peel on Saturday.

“Harley’s pulled up really well,” Weber said.

“He was a little bit conservative early in the game but he got moving.

“Everything’s progressing to plan at this stage and we’ll see him at training later this week with our WAFL boys during the State bye weekend.”

Griffin Logue is likely to resume full football training soon as the defender recovers from congenital issue with a metatarsal in his foot.

With approximately two weeks left in his recovery, Logue could return to football for either Fremantle’s round 10 clash with North Melbourne or Peel’s round eight WAFL game against East Fremantle.

“Griffin’s very close,” Weber said.

“He had a good run again today and we look forward to him progressing quickly from here.”

Both Sean Darcy (knee) and Hugh Dixon (foot) commenced running on Tuesday, with the pair listed as four weeks from their return to football.

“It was Sean’s first main run with the knee. He’s doing very well and we’re really happy with his progress,” Weber said.

“Hugh and Darcy are a bit of a pair at the moment. Hugh also had his first run today and he’s looking pretty good.”

Weber confirmed that there was no timeframe on the returns of injured forward Matt Taberner (foot) and midfielder Bradley Hill (knee).

“Matt’s had a little bit of time off from his rehab program in regards to his recovery and he’ll be back and starting work in the next couple of days,” Weber said.

“The foot’s recovering. It’s still in its boot and we’ll be moving him along as fast as we can.

“Bradley Hill’s doing well. He’ll be back into running in the next week.”
