Alex Pearce will make his return after missing only one game with a broken thumb when Fremantle takes on Brisbane on Sunday at Optus Stadium.

The key defender picked up the injury against Adelaide in round 12 and underwent surgery early that week.

The 23-year-old has impressed as a key back during 12 appearances this season, shutting down a number of the AFL’s high-impact forwards.

In his weekly media conference on Friday, Lyon confirmed that Pearce would play with a splint.

He is one of two big ins for Fremantle with Michael Walters returning from a one-game suspension.

Walters has been at his elite best for Fremantle again this season, starring in either a midfield or forward role. He has kicked 14 goals and averaged 20.2 disposals from 10 appearances in 2018.

Connor Blakely (knee) and Ryan Nyhuis (omitted) are Fremantle’s two outs.

Bouncedown for the clash on Sunday is at 2.40pm WST.
