Michael Walters could be a chance to play this weekend after scans revealed the Freo midfielder’s hamstring was not torn as initially suspected after Freo’s win against Carlton on Sunday.

Walters will receive treatment for a lower buttock injury this week in the hope he will respond well enough to face Geelong on Saturday.

Senior physiotherapist Dr Jeff Boyle said Walters would be monitored closely throughout the week.

“At the moment we have an open mind with Michael and will see how he responds during the week,” Boyle said.

Luke Ryan will also be assessed throughout the week due to a hamstring injury sustained in Sunday’s win against the Blues. The defender played out the game on Sunday but pulled up sore on Sunday morning.

“Luke had some tightness in the first quarter but was able to play through and complete the game entirely," Boyle said.

In positive news Nat Fyfe is set to return to the action this weekend after being listed as a test. Fyfe has missed six games after injuring his hamstring in Freo’s round 15 clash against the Lions.

“Nat has still got to get through his football training this week. There will be a final training session on Thursday, so if he gets through that okay he’ll be free to play,” Boyle said.
