As Fremantle wrapped up a successful NAB AFL Trade Period, there was a clear outpouring of joy from fans that were ecstatic with the club’s new signings.

23-year-old Jesse Hogan was at the middle of it all as Freo’s headline recruit, with the star forward admitting his phone has been running hot since the news broke.

“There’s been plenty of love over Instagram and pretty much everywhere,” Hogan said.

“I’m just excited to get into it but it kind of hasn’t sunk in just yet.

“But I can’t wait to pull on the jersey and run out for the first time - hopefully, for the next five to 10 years.”

And it’s not just the Fremantle fans, with friends, family and new teammates all reaching out to the new Freo Docker.

“My phones been going off a fair bit so I haven’t really replied to everyone,” Hogan said.

“There’s a fair few to get through! I’ve had contact from a few of the Freo blokes and I’m trying to get back to them all.”

Hogan joins former GWS Giant Rory Lobb as two key pillars of a new look forward line at Fremantle.

Hogan said he was excited to team up with the 207cm big man, who is known for his athleticism and contested marking ability.

“I haven’t actually had too much to do with Rory but I’ve seen him play and he’s got heaps of talent,” Hogan said.

“I’m super excited to get started into pre-season and, potentially, create a bit of a duo there.”

While fans were glued to NAB AFL Trade Radio in anticipation of the breaking news, Hogan was already at work preparing for the pre-season ahead.

“I was actually at the gym when I found out and my manager called me,” Hogan said.

“I wrapped up there and drove down the highway to see mum and the rest of the family.

“I just had dinner with them and chilled out.”
