Fremantle will open their 2019 AFL season with a clash against North Melbourne on 24 March at Optus Stadium.

The clash will be a Sunday twilight game with bouncedown at 3.20pm.

The AFL announced the 2019 round one fixture on Saturday evening, with the full fixture set to be confirmed during the week.

Fremantle and North Melbourne were very active in the 2019 NAB AFL Trade Period, with both clubs bringing in four players who could make their club debuts.

The clash could see the likes of Jesse Hogan, Rory Lobb, Travis Colyer and Reece Conca pull on the Freo jumper for the first time while Jared Polec, Dom Tyson, Jasper Pittard and Aaron Hall could make their North Melbourne debuts.

Fremantle CEO Steve Rosich said: “We are delighted that we will open our 2019 season at home at Optus Stadium.

“While the rest of the fixture is not due to be released until early next week, we are pleased with discussions we have had with the AFL to ensure that we have an even spread of games next season, including a number of Saturday night fixtures.”

The game will mark the start of Fremantle’s 25th season in the AFL.

To commemorate the anniversary, Fremantle will wear a special one-off jumper that features a 25-year club logo on the front of the playing jumper.

Throughout the season, the logo will also feature on the back of Fremantle’s home and away playing jumpers.

The number ‘25’ forms a striking design based on the chevrons synonymous with the club’s jumper. “Forever Freo” completes the logo, creating a special tribute to the club’s proud history and an exciting future.

The commemorative jumpers are available for order online from the Fremantle Team Store, as well as from the Freo Dockers ISC superstore at Cockburn ARC and the Freo Dockers Team Store at Domain Stadium.

Fremantle memberships are now on sale, with prices for adults starting from $269 for an 11-game reserved seat membership.
