Luke McPharlin is likely to be fit for finals despite being subbed out of Saturday’s game with a calf injury.

Sports science manager Jason Weber said the chances of him returning were ‘great’.

“He has been assessed by the doctors and we’ll get forward with managing him,” Weber said.

“He’ll be definitely pushing for selection for finals.”

Tendai Mzungu could return against Hawthorn, he is listed as a test this week.

Mzungu injured his hamstring in the Carlton game and missed last weekend’s loss to Geelong.

Weber said the chances of him returning to take on the Hawks were strong.

“He just has to get through training this week but he has shown at this point that everything is looking good,” he said.

“We will see how he goes during the week and hopefully he will be available for match committee.”

Weber said it was the same case with Garrick Ibbotson, who also missed the Cats game.

But Tanner Smith and Tommy Sheridan have been ruled out for the next few weeks.

“Tanner Smith suffered a shoulder injury over the weekend that will be a couple of weeks to resolve,” Weber said.

“Tommy Sheridan has a hip injury and, again, it will probably be a week or two until that is resolved completely.”

Michael Walters first run back since an ankle injury in round three has been positive. The lively small forward kicked one goal and gathered 19 disposals.

“He tells me he was fantastic and from a physical perspective he has done very well,” Weber said.

“We’ll look to get him through training this week and see how things go at the end of the week.”
