How do Freo look heading into the Draft?

Fremantle received pick four in the AFLW Draft Lottery held on Thursday, 29 September.

The Draft order:

1. GWS Giants
2. Brisbane Lions
3. Carlton
4. Fremantle
5. Western Bulldogs
6. Collingwood
7. Adelaide
8. Melbourne

Selections will be made in a 'snaking order' thereafter, with Melbourne to have the first pick of the second round and GWS the eighth.

For clubs outside of Victoria the allocation of draft picks holds only symbolic value, given each interstate team will have exclusive access to a pool of players that have nominated for their respective state drafts.

Freo’s list so far?

Fremantle has already recruited marquee signings Kara Donnellan and Kiara Bowers, priority signings Ebony Antonio and Kirby Bentley, and rookie selections Kim Mickle and Gabby O’Sullivan.

All club lists will comprise of 27 players, however Fremantle received an extra compensation spot following the long-term injury sustained by Kiara Bowers in August.

How does ‘free agency’ work?

The remaining three places on the club lists of 27 will be available for ‘free agency’.

Free agents are those players who have nominated for the Draft but were not selected and may now consider options to play interstate. Free agents must be selected prior to October 31.
