The replacement for injured utility player Simon Tunbridge is a battle of four, with a mix of aspiring youngsters and seasoned veterans on the short list.

The West Coast Eagles match committee has added 2006 premiership defender Sam Butler and experienced half-forward Josh Hill to a 25-man squad, along with mobile big man Fraser McIinnes and big-bodied utility player Brant Colledge.

Tunbridge, who bravely returned to action after damaging an ankle in the second quarter last Friday night, is the only omission from the team as the club prepares for Sunday’s Carlton Draught Derby against Fremantle.

Should McInnes, 21, make the cut, he will become the fourth debutant this season, following Tom Lamb, Jackson Nelson and Liam Duggan into senior football.

While the others were all drafted to the club last November, McInnes has been an Eagle for four years.

The 197cm, 96kg key forward has shown another string to his bow in an enterprising start to the season in the WAFL, by carrying much of the burden in the ruck at East Perth.

The athletic tall forward is pressing for an opportunity and deserves to be in the mix for this clash.

Colledge has also been in good touch for the Royals, particularly after a disappointing start against East Fremantle in round one, when he has racked up big numbers through the midfield.

East Perth had a bye last week, so he would come into the team fresh.

Hill has also been in eye-catching form for East Perth, particularly in their last two matches, while Butler played the opening game of the season against the Western Bulldogs and was ruled out of the Carlton game with a low-grade adductor strain.

Freo takes on West Coast in the Carlton Draught Derby on Sunday 19 April.
