In his first year at the club Brandon Matera said he is looking forward to having his family supporting him in the crowd at Fremantle Dockers home games.

“It’s going to be pretty special, obviously my parents haven’t been able to come to too many of my games up in the Gold Coast,” he said.

“They’re obviously pretty excited for me to be coming home, so it’s going to be great having them in the stands every second week.”

Since moving back to Perth, Matera said it has been a smooth transition into the club.

“The boys have been very welcoming ever since I walked in the door,” he said.

“Obviously there’s a great feel around the club and I love being here.”

Currently Brandon Matera is living with teammates Tommy Sheridan and Sean Darcy.

“They’ve been pretty good to me and looked after me,” he said.

“The last couple of nights we have watched a couple of movies, the Adam Sandler movies, so it’s been pretty good.”

With all Freo home games to be played at the newly built Optus Stadium, Matera said he couldn’t wait to get out on the ground on game day.

“It’s pretty awesome, I’m obviously looking forward to seeing it fully packed out there on the weekend,” he said

“To see the girls run out and how loud it was, it gave the boys goosebumps, so we are looking forward to round two and getting out there in front of the Fremantle crowd.”

Matera said he hopes all Freo fans will be at their first home game in round two of the Toyota AFL premiership season.

“If they can come down and pack this stadium out it’s going to be a great atmosphere and the boys will be ready to go,” he said.
