Fremantle senior coach Ross Lyon believes his side’s flexibility can be a vital weapon against opposition sides in season 2015.

Lyon told 6PR on Monday night that Freo’s midfielders were able to play a variety of positions against Port Adelaide, which helped the team claim a seven-point win at Domain Stadium.

“Your midfield is the engine room; if they don’t deliver, you’re going to be in trouble,” Lyon said.

“They all stood up.

(David) Mundy’s last quarter was superb. He went to half-back and played well, Hilly (Stephen Hill) went to half-back, ‘Pav’ (Matthew Pavlich) went on-ball for a bit.

“We’re more flexible. Tommy Sheridan on a half-back wing, (Nick) Suban and (Danyle) Pearce moved from the midfield to the forward line.

“We’re certainly not as predictable as we were and we think we can build on that as well."
