NBA MVP Stephen 'Steph' Curry thinks AFL players are crazy for not wearing padding, according to Fremantle’s Hayden Ballantyne.

Ballantyne met Curry in December last year while on holiday in the USA with his family.

He watched Curry’s Golden State Warriors play the LA Clippers at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles

“Luc Longley, who’s managed by the same agent as Steph, got some tickets to a game for my family,” Ballantyne said.

“Steph’s a really nice guy, he spoke to us for about 15 minutes after the game.

“We spoke about footy and he said he’s watched a couple of AFL games.

“He said it was a tough looking sport and reckons we’re crazy because we don’t wear pads.”

Curry gave Ballantyne’s daughter Avery a bracelet, which he had worn during the game.

“He was a really nice guy,” he said.

Freo teammate Lachie Neale is a die-hard Golden State fan and said he was jealous of Ballantyne meeting the star.
