Being drafted to the Fremantle Dockers was a dream come true for Hugh Dixon.

The 18-year-old was watching the draft at home in Longley, Tasmania when he heard his name called out at pick 44 in Friday’s NAB AFL Draft.

“I am extremely excited. I’m so emotional at the moment, I can’t even begin to describe what is going through my head,” Dixon said.

“I was at home with my family and friends and it got a bit hectic when my name got called out.

“It’s unbelievable.”

The 195cms left-footer played as a tall forward in the national championships where he averaged 11 disposals, 3.5 marks, four tackles and 9.1 goals in four games.

Dixon said his focus for his first year on an AFL list was to learn as much as he could and build his running capacity.

“I just want to develop myself, make sure I put on a bit of weight and improve my endurance,” Dixon said.
