Have you got what it takes to line-up against Danyle Pearce, Lee Spurr and Cam Sutcliffe?

The Freo trio had their lungs tested last week as part of The Lung Institute of WA’s (LIWA) search for ‘Perth’s Best Lungs’.

A club community event partner in 2014, the Lung Institute of WA is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to researching better treatments and cures for chronic lung disease.

The search will kick off today at Patersons Stadium before Fremantle take on Essendon at 2.40pm.

LIWA will be conducting lung testing for Freo fans from 12.30pm until 2.40pm at gate 8 to search for ‘Freo’s Best Set of Lungs'.
'
The five Freo fans who score the highest will go head to head on ground at half time of today’s match.

The winner will walk away with a Malvern Star mountain bike and bragging rights as the Freo fan with the best set of lungs.

The tests, carried out by LIWA are a useful way of deciding if your lungs are working properly.

The test can indicate whether further assessments are needed to determine if a lung problem exists. Early diagnosis can often lead to a much better outcome.

Based on his height and weight, Danyle Pearce managed to exceed his category expectation based on an average person's value. In fact, despite his asthma, he did better than both Sutcliffe and Spurr, coming in second and third and doing well - but around average for their category.

“I actually scored the best out of all of us, which is really positive given that I’ve got asthma and the other guys don’t, so that means I’m managing it well,” Pearce said.

“Lung health isn’t something that is spoken about a great deal, but it’s just as important as any other part of your body.

“I’d encourage all our fans to get to the game early, swing  by gate 8 and have their lungs tested – it only takes a minute.”
