Number 9 – Saturday 2 May, 2009 – The 200th game

Matthew Pavlich’s brilliant career reached the 200-game mark, and it couldn’t have been on a more fitting occasion.

The 29th Carlton Mid Derby against West Coast proved to be a titanic struggle.

The Eagles wasted opportunities in the first half, leading by just one goal at half-time despite having six more scoring shots.

Freo came home with a rush, including a huge 55m goal from ‘Pav’, to win by 13 points and honour its great captain.

Pavlich finished the game with 23 disposals and six marks and was carried off the field on the shoulders of teammates Luke McPharlin and Antoni Grover.
