Fremantle had another arduous training session in the heat today as Ross Lyon begins to ramp up the team’s preparations for the NAB Cup.

All over Fremantle Oval there was little respite for the pleasingly large number of players taking part in the session.

The absentees included Matthew Pavlich, who participated in some rehab running drills earlier in the morning, and Ryan Crowley, who is close to resuming after tearing a pectoral muscle in December.

Lachie Neale, Matt de Boer and Kepler Bradley also did not train, while Tendai Mzungu ran laps.

Aaron Sandilands missed out on the session after undergoing a minor procedure earlier in the week but will resume with the main group on Monday.

Midfield star Nat Fyfe admitted the recent training sessions had been tough, but added that they were nothing out of the ordinary.

“January is typically pretty solid,” he said.

“It’s the last serious block of pre-season before the games start happening, so we get a lot of volume in during this period.”
