Fremantle and Melbourne have officially lodged the paperwork confirming Viv Michie’s move to the Demons.

In return for the midfielder, Fremantle will receive Melbourne’s pick 54 in next month’s National Draft.

Fremantle general manager of football operations Chris Bond said the club wished Michie all the best for the future.

“Viv was a popular member of the team and displayed good resilience and a very strong work-ethic during his time at Fremantle,” he said.

“We thank him for his contribution to the club and we wish him all the best at Melbourne.”

Michie was recruited with pick 44 in the 2010 National Draft.

He battled a persistent foot injury in the first two years at Freo, but he enjoyed a solid 2013 season at Peel Thunder, winning the club’s best and fairest award.

The 21-year-old made his AFL debut in round 14 this season, when he was a late inclusion for the game against Geelong at Simonds Stadium.
