Around 40 players took to the track for this morning's final training session ahead of Saturday's Carlton Mid Derby.

The only players not on the track were Aaron Sandilands, Anthony Morabito and Jayden Pitt.

Defender Alex Silvagni, who is unavailable for the Derby because of suspension, and first-year player Max Duffy, only did some light running activities.

The main group looked sharp throughout the session, which took place in cooler conditions than in recent weeks.

In a drill designed to simulate forward 50 entry and rebound, Jon Griffin, who will lead the on-ball division against West Coast, rucked against 21-year-old recruit Jack Hannath.

Hannath is in contention to back Griffin up in the ruck, should Zac Clarke be unavailable due to injury.

Kepler Bradley is also an option for senior coach Ross Lyon. He played as a forward throughout the session and was manned up by Garrick Ibbotson in a match simulation drill.

Ibbotson is fighting to regain his spot after being left out of the side's final NAB Cup match.
