Fremantle senior coach Ross Lyon expects a formidable Sydney on Saturday afternoon at Domain Stadium, despite the Swans missing key midfielders.

Sydney co-captain Kieran Jack has been ruled out of the clash due to a knee injury he suffered in the Swan’s win over Gold Coast on Saturday.

It comes after young midfielder star Luke Parker broke his ankle last month and has been ruled out for the remainder of the year.

Lyon said Sydney had a similar year to Fremantle in many respects.

“They are much like us, rip roaring earlier in the year but a couple of ugly wins along the way,” he said.

“They’ve been able to turn their form around over the last few weeks.

“They’ve turned into some headwind (with injury).

“We know culturally they are an anywhere, anytime team with strong leadership.

“They are a formidable opposition.”

Fremantle play Sydney at Domain Stadium on Saturday 12 September. Bounce down is at 1.20pm WST.
