Conceding from kick-ins

Collingwood has conceded by far the most points in the AFL from kick-ins in 2012 (109).

That’s four goals ahead of second placed Hawthorn (85).

In the video above, both Geelong and West Coast kick long to the 50m boundary line and take uncontested marks. Both sides play on quickly down the wing and then cut in-board before the final inside 50 kick.

Fremantle is the best in the competition in this statistic, conceding just 21 points all season.

The video of Fremantle's games against Richmond and Essendon highlights the enormous pressure Ross Lyon's men apply on the opposition to lock the ball inside 50 and prevent them from exiting.

There’s a massive discrepancy in this kick-in stat, but just what part it can play won’t be known until Saturday.

Keep a close eye on the kick-ins.

Inside 50s and scoring efficiency

Collingwood are just 11th for most inside 50 entries in the comp, but they’re the 4th best at converting once they’re in there, scoring 27 per cent of the time.

Freo’s midfield must work hard to limit the number of entries Collingwood has because the Magpies are very efficient once the ball goes inside 50.

Conceding from turnovers

Collingwood have conceded 488 points from turnovers this season - the second lowest in the AFL.

Freo must capitalise fully when the Pies cough the ball up because Nathan Buckley’s side don’t give away points cheaply.

Other Stats

Collingwood are 4th in the competition in contested possessions (1807) and clearances (482).

Fremantle are 8th in contested possessions (1747) and 14th in clearances (439).
