What the recruiter said:
"We wanted to make sure we got at least one tall, so we achieved that by getting Tanner Smith. We think we've got some really strong talent in and we've got a great mix of players who are different sizes and can play in different positions." - Fremantle recruiting manager Brad Lloyd

Pick 17: Josh Simpson, East Fremantle
Lloyd says: "We just couldn't go past his talent, his run, his ball use. Being an East Fremantle boy is another bonus for us. We think he'll suit our ground over at Subiaco. He played some really good footy in South Australia last year and a lot of clubs were tracking him after that. He's the type of player that his talent comes out pretty quick - he's a very noticeable player. So he produced plenty of special moments over the last couple of years that caught our eye. Now it's up to him. He gets an opportunity to use the tools he's got and make an impact."

Pick 36: Tanner Smith, North Ballarat Rebels
Lloyd says:
"He's a real quality person and a great competitor. He's just someone that we saw on his man at every contest. He's always spoiling and he's got amazing speed and agility for a guy who is almost 200cm. We've seen him consistently play a role and we think he can do that at the next level."

Pick 39: Max Duffy, East Fremantle
Lloyd says:
"He's another East Fremantle boy, so he gets to stay at home. He had a big impact this year at senior level in the WAFL and we were very impressed by that. He was overlooked in last year's draft and I thought it was a great effort for him to pick himself up and get to senior level this year. He played in the finals, and he kicked four goals one week in the reserves in his first game back from an injury, so those things impressed us. He's a player you get drawn to because every time he's got the ball you know something is going to happen."

Pick 78: Clancee Pearce, rookie upgrade

Pick 93: Lee Spurr, rookie upgrade
