Lachie Neale does not believe he’s cemented a spot in Fremantle’s best 22 yet, despite another prolific outing on Sunday.

The 21-year-old had 25 disposals in Freo’s win over the Western Bulldogs at Etihad Stadium.

He won the Ross Glendinning Medal against West Coast earlier this season.

Neale told Fox Footy after the game that it was a very tough side to break into and he wouldn’t be resting on his laurels.

“I wouldn’t say I’m entrenched, not at all,” he said.

“I’ve got to keep putting in consistent performances to keep my spot.

“There’s guys pushing, like Colin Sylvia, at WAFL level, so I’ve still got to try and put in as much as I can.”
Freo were clinical in beating the Bulldogs, scoring 24 times from just 41 entries inside 50.

The Dogs had 67 entries and won the contested possession count by 12.

Neale said Freo expected a big contest but weren’t happy with aspects of the side’s game.

“They really took it to us, we knew coming in that they were a high stoppage team and were going to make it a contest all day,” he said.

“We were a little bit disappointed in some areas – we didn’t get as many inside 50s and contested balls, and our ground balls were a little bit down.

“But we’ll review it and look forward to next week.”
