Michael Walters has taken another big step towards his comeback game after he was named in Fremantle’s 25-man squad for Sunday’s match against Hawthorn at Patersons Stadium.

Tendai Mzungu, Alex Silvagni and Matt Taberner were also included, with Luke McPharlin the only player out from the team that lost in Geelong.

Walters has not played AFL since he hurt his ankle in the round 3 match against the Hawks at the MCG. He lined up for Peel Thunder last weekend.

Silvagni appears to be the logical replacement for McPharlin in defence, while Mzungu will have to prove he has recovered from a hamstring injury at Friday’s closed training session.

Taberner has played primarily as a forward but could also be used as a key defender if required.

Young forwards Hayden Crozier and Max Duffy remain in the squad and are a chance of being named in the final 22 at 3pm (WST) on Friday.
