Despite the loss to North Melbourne keeping Fremantle winless to start the 2016 season, forward Chris Mayne said the result hasn’t diminished the belief within the playing group.

Freo played a tightly contested game in the loss to the Kangaroos but despite the result, Mayne said the team was continuing to build toward a complete performance.

“We know what has to be done,” Mayne said.

“Unfortunately we haven’t executed it so far but I definitely believe it’s not far off.

“There’s definitely a build within the team.”

Talking points after North Melbourne loss

Freo have continued to build and put up a formidable performance against a North Melbourne side that will finish round four sitting atop of the AFL ladder.

Mayne said that despite the start to the season, Freo would remain united as they look forward to a round five clash with Carlton on Sunday 24 April.

“We’re all in it together, players, coaching staff, and the club,” he said.

“I believe that there is still belief.

“It’s a long way back but it’s something that can be done.”

It would require a collaborative mindset, effort and game day application for Freo to right the ship in 2016, according to Mayne.

“It’s going to take a whole list to work together,” he said.

“It’s about our effort, having strong minds to be able to get out there, stick together, have strong reviews, train hard and put it all into action on game day.”
