Live the Dream, which is proudly supported by Decmil is a once in a lifetime opportunity for 16 young Australians to become immersed in the culture of the Fremantle Dockers Football Club and ‘live the life’ of an AFL player for five days.

Live the Dream offers participants a rare opportunity to develop skills and behaviours, which can deliver long-term benefits to the individual and their local community.

The program will include a tour of Fremantle headquarters and Patersons Stadium, a boot camp session at the Irwin Army Barracks located in Karrakatta as well as leadership and health and well being training sessions.

The Live the Dream program commences on Friday 11 July with Fremantle players Paul Duffield, Tommy Sheridan, Hayden Crozier, Stephen Hill, Chris Mayne, Nick Suban, Zac Clarke and Colin Sylvia as the participant’s mentors.

Meet 16-year-old Maxwell Terence Websdale from Bunbury

Maxwell, plays for the Carey Park Football Club and Swan Districts development team in the WAFL.

He expected Live the Dream to be a great experience.

“I have never done anything like it before,” Maxwell said.

“I would love to see how AFL actually happens.”

Maxwell also wants to improve his leadership skills, although he’s already proven he can be a strong leader.

He lost his father in 2011 and his brother in 2013.

“They have contributed in my life and I want to make them proud of me,” he said.

“It’s made me be a stronger person to support my mother and my sisters.”

His teacher at Bunbury Senior High School Ian Lockhart said Maxwell would benefit greatly from Live the Dream.

“Max has had some setbacks in life and the opportunity to experience a ‘be the best you can be’ environment would be wonderful for him."
