Senior Coach Justin Longmuir has said the Club has prepared accordingly as the players look to face a ‘desperate’ 0-2 Adelaide outfit in the Club’s Good Friday clash at Optus Stadium.
“They (Adelaide) are dangerous all over the ground,” Longmuir told the media following the captains run on Thursday.
“I know they are 0-2 but they’ve been playing some really good footy.
“We are going to get a really physical, contested game this week.
“We are expecting a really desperate team and a really competitive game.”
Longmuir highlighted the midfield battle around the contest as a focus point for Fremantle during preparation for the clash.
“They (Adelaide) are elite at being able to turn contest situations into great scoring opportunities,” Longmuir said.
“We’ve done a fair bit of work on our contest method, making sure that they’re not allowed to speed up off contest, and their ball movement is really strong.
“We must make sure we take a bit of that away from them.
Longmuir praised the Club’s 2-0 start to the season, but said getting a consistent four quarters would be crucial in continuing the winning streak.
“It’s building (midfield cohesion). Like other aspects of our game, it’s not perfect and it’s not where we want it to get to, we could be more consistent across four quarters, but I think we’ve been a lot more physical in there and a lot more competitive with our contest work and pressure," Longmuir said.
“Being able to do that over four quarters is the next step.
Bouncedown for the Good Friday showdown is at 4.30pm WST, with a big crowd expected to fill out Optus Stadium as the Club looks to go 3-0.
