Speedy forward Michael Frederick says the team is looking forward to playing in front of the Purple Army in a rare Good Friday night game at Optus Stadium.

Fremantle are back at home to take on the Adelaide Crows in a 4.30pm start following their round 2 come-from-behind win over the Kangaroos at Marvel Stadium.

“It’ll be awesome to get a big crowd,” said Frederick.

“A couple of the younger guys will be pretty excited, hopefully we can get the win and make some Freo fans pretty happy.”

With stirring fightbacks required to record back-to-back wins over Brisbane and North Melbourne, Frederick believes playing four quarters will be the key to beating the Crows, who will be desperate to open their account in season 2024.

“We know we put in a mountain of work throughout the pre-season to help us get those wins,” said Frederick.

“We back in a lot of our work and it’s good to see that we can play some good footy against some good oppo (opposition) and get the job done, so pretty happy with our start.”

Frederick also endorsed the off-season work on attack with a focus on deeper entries inside 50 and pressuring the opposition helping to produce scores of 93 points (against Brisbane) and 102 (North Melbourne).

He says the team can’t wait for ruckman Sean Darcy’s return which will allow Luke Jackson to spend more time closer to goal.

“Seany’s a good ruckman – he’s been a great ruckman the last few years – and when he comes back into the team I think it’ll help Dogga (Luke Jackson) with his forward craft,” said Frederick.

“Luke’s like a barometer for us so I feel like if we have those two at full flight it’d be a pretty scary sight and hopefully we see that pretty soon.

“He’s (Luke) pretty good at ground level, you could probably call him a small forward at times and he’s very, very crafty at winning the contested ball and getting it out. It’s like an added layer to the way our talls and smalls perform and I think if he was to play forward or ruck, it’s a benefit for us either way.

“Whenever Sean comes back and Lukey comes forward it'll be nice – they don’t drop too many marks.”
