Fremantle senior coach Justin Longmuir said his team is continuously finding ways to win as opponents throw different looks at them round by round.

Fremantle have been averaging 99.36 points per game at Optus Stadium in 2026, and speaking at his post-match media conference, Longmuir said that tonight his team found a different way to win in a defence‑heavy game.

“I think it’s the growth in our maturity across the course of the last 18 months… we haven’t panicked when we’ve been in those games, in those situations,” Longmuir said.

“We just kept our head, kept playing, kept problem‑solving, and we’ve kept working our way through the situations that the opposition have thrown at us.

“Usually, we’ve come out on top.

“We’ve been kicking over 100 points here, and today it was hard to score.

“They kept the scoreboard pretty even up until halfway through the third… like I said at the start, I was proud of the way the players worked their way through that.”

Longmuir reiterated that although big names often get the credit, a night like tonight demonstrated the even contributions of the entire squad this season.

“I thought we just had a really even performance all across the ground,” Longmuir said.

“There wasn’t really a standout performer. I just thought we had really even contribution, and that’s what got us across the line in the end.”

Fremantle’s win sealed a top‑two finish and a finals double chance.

The club will now travel to the MCG to take on Melbourne in Round 22 on Saturday 8 August.
