New home, new beginnings  

Cockburn ARC Oval looked pristine in the winter sunshine for a first taste of the game day experience at home for Fremantle players, staff, and family watching on.  

Inaugural player Gabby O’Sullivan slotted an early goal for Fremantle at the eastern end of the ground in front of the new grandstand filled with onlookers. 

Coach Lisa Webb looking forward to the season ahead at Fremantle’s new home ground which officially gets underway at 12:35pm (WST) Sunday 16 August against Port Adelaide. 

“We just can’t wait to play here, it’s a fantastic deck and being in the coaches box today was terrific, I’m so excited for this season. 

I brought some of my family down today and they’ve never seen Cockburn ARC Oval like this before so we can’t wait to pack it out in Round One.”

Ruck n Roll 

Minus Mim Strom following her stellar game for Australia in the representative match against Ireland, Tunisha Kikoak and Bella Smith held their own against strong opposition. 

Kikoak pushing forward for a major at the end of the first term. 

“TK, I thought was really strong in the ruck as with Bella as well.”

Goalsneak goals  

Noa McNaughton ensured her pre-season goalkicking average remained intact when she booted one in the third quarter. The goalsneak has kicked a major in every one of the four pre-season matches and Fremantle’s pre-season draft selectioncontinues to be a dangerous proposition for opposition in the forward fifty. 

“Noa again, she’s cheeky up forward and is always good to find a goal so really pleased for all our young girls.” 

Mia (Anderson), Mon (Bessen), Lily (Johnson), and Evie (Parker) all those girls did a great job.”  

Miller’s major 

Hayley Miller celebrated as she snagged a major in the final quarter of her first pre-season practice match. Fremantle’sAFLW games record holder playing deep in the forward line and provided a huge presence up forward. 

“She kicked a bit of a boomer out there didn’t she, she’s been training really well.  

We’re really excited, obviously she’s a really important player for our team so it was great to have her back out there.” 

Fremantle will face West Coast again during the regular season for a Round 8 clash at Leederville Oval.
