BAD luck has once again struck Fremantle's Scott Gumbleton, with a leg injury forcing him from the ground in the first quarter of Wednesday's NAB Challenge game against the Western Bulldogs.

The exact nature of the injury was unclear but the tall forward had his hamstring iced after limping towards the change rooms at quarter-time. He had been subbed from the game.

Gumbleton joined Fremantle in exchange for pick No.55 after seven frustrating seasons at Essendon. In that time he played just 35 games and kicked 45 goals, with his fragile body preventing him from delivering on the promise he showed as a junior.

He has had a promising pre-season with the Dockers and played in their first NAB Challenge game.

He had kicked one behind before he left the ground. Ruckman Jack Hannath replaced Gumbleton.
