As part of the club’s 20-year recognition game this Sunday against Greater Western Sydney at Patersons Stadium, several past players and their children will take part in a friendly AFL 9’s game before the main game.

The fun kicks off at 12.10pm, and fans wanting to catch all the pre-game action can enter through Patersons Stadium gates 8 and 26 from 12pm.

One past player to be pulling the boots back on this Sunday is Daniel Bandy.

The popular ruckman played 105 games for Freo between 1995 and 2001.

fremantlefc.com.au caught with up Bandy to see how his preparations were going leading into his return to footy.

Have you been doing anything in particular to prepare for the game?
In a nutshell: are you kidding? No. Nothing. Zero.

Who are you most looking forward to lining up against?
I don’t even know who’s playing. Probably big ‘Spider’ (Matthew Burton).

Who do you think is most likely to pull their hamstring?
Is Jason Norrish playing? Jason Norrish.

What’s your favourite memory from your playing days at Freo?
I was there from day one, so the uniqueness of starting up a new AFL team, being part of something special. It was so new and fresh and I was part of AFL history.

Which current Freo players do you like watching?
It has to be Nat Fyfe. He’s just too good to watch and he’s great at taking the old ‘specky’ and winning his own contested football, as well. He’s a unique player and one to watch.

What are your thoughts on the current Freo team?
They’re just going about their business nicely. They are very well drilled and coached and every player just plays their role. Every player is on the same page and there’s no individual, it’s all about the team and that’s what’s great about the side at the moment. It’s all about working for each other and helping each other.
