Fremantle captain Matthew Pavlich has been appointed as president of the AFL Players’ Association board.

The Freo star was announced as the new leader at the AFL Players’ Association’s 2015 season launch on Tuesday night, after the board voted in their new leaders at its Annual General Meeting.

Pavlich, who has been on the Players’ Association board for five years and vice president for the past three, is looking forward to taking over the reins from outgoing president, Luke Ball.

“On behalf of the entire playing group, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Bally – as former President – for his great contribution over the years,” Pavlich said.

Will Minson has stepped into Pavlich’s previous role of vice president.

Two new board members in Chris Dawes and Leigh Montagna were also elected with Dan Jackson and Luke Ball stepping down at the end of the 2014 season.
