Fremantle’s midfield on Saturday could be an appetiser of what it may look like in years to come.

The centre will take on a fresh look with David Mundy, Stephen Hill, Danyle Pearce and Aaron Sandilands all rested for the clash with Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval.

The club made 11 changes for the game and will blood three debutants Connor Blakely, Brady Grey and Ethan Hughes.

Match Preview: Fremantle v Port Adelaide

Along with players such as Lachie Weller, Jack Hannath and Zac Clarke, the trio will give a glimpse into the future make-up of Fremantle’s midfield.

Among the most experienced midfielders on Saturday will be 22-year-old Lachie Neale.

“It will be a different line up in the middle,” he said.

“We’re going to have a couple of new ruckmen in there too.

Rest up for more work

“Zac (Clarke) will play, maybe Jack Hannath.

No member of Fremantle’s leadership group will play and Neale said that offered an opportunity for the whole team to lead.

“Leadership for us as a club, is everyone’s shoulders,” he said.

“We do have leaders out but it’s going to be spread across the team.”

Fremantle play Port Adelaide on Saturday 5 September. Bounce down is at 3.20pm local time.
