Son Son Shines
Michael Walters put together a superb performance from the midfield, an area where the team's depth has been greatly affected by injury. Walters collected a career-high 29 disposals and kicked three goals while still providing his well-renowned pressure, finishing with seven tackles on the day.

Pearce paying off
Alex Pearce was presented with his most difficult challenge yet, an imposing Crows captain Taylor Walker, in front of more than 47,000 at a hostile Adelaide Oval. The young defender held his own and then some, keeping “Tex”goalless and to only 10 disposals, while also collecting 11 disposals and taking four contested marks himself.

Pearce happy to play on big-name forwards

Missed opportunities
The scoreboard told the tale for Freo, as they were unable to overcome blustery conditions to kick 8.16 for the day. Adelaide were often able to increase their efficiency by having attempts closer to goal, and this showed as they kicked 14.13 in return.

Wind Factor
The strong and unpredictable breeze at the city end of Adelaide Oval proved to be difficult for Freo and Adelaide to manage on Saturday. Both teams missed to the left on a number of occasions and scoring proved difficult, especially in the tightly contested first half.

Crows too good

Eddie Everywhere
In-form small forward and Adelaide fan-favourite Eddie Betts was relatively quiet in the first quarter of Saturday’s game, but found a way to impact the scoreboard as the game went on. Betts proved to be a handful, and finished with four goals to his name, and could have been more damaging if not for some errant shots at goal.
