The 2017 Toyota AFL Premiership season fixture has delivered a treat for Freo fans, with a schedule bursting with blockbuster home games in the club’s final season at Domain Stadium.

Reigning premiers Western Bulldogs head west to face Freo under lights in Round 3 on Saturday 8 April, while crowd pulling Victorian clubs Hawthorn, Collingwood, Carlton, Essendon, Richmond and Geelong are all scheduled to play at Domain Stadium in 2017.

It is the first time since 2002 that the Hawks, Magpies, Blues, Bombers, Tigers and Cats have all played in front of the Freo faithful in the same season, a year that also saw the home side win all six of those games.

In other marquee games at Domain Stadium, Freo host North Melbourne in the Len Hall Tribute Game under lights on Saturday 22 April, and West Coast in the Carlton Draught Derby in Round 17 on Sunday 16 July.

The club’s final home and away fixture at Domain Stadium is slated for Round 22 against Richmond on Sunday 20 August.

Fremantle avoid away games in Tasmania or Darwin for the first time since 2011, instead playing four games in Melbourne including two at the MCG, as well as one in Geelong, two in Sydney, two in Adelaide and one in Brisbane.

Fremantle also have the bonus of one fewer six-day break, with four scheduled in 2017, compared to five in 2016.

Fremantle can make Domain Stadium their own to start the season. Five of the opening seven games are at Subiaco, kicking off in round one with the annual Starlight Purple Haze Game against Geelong on Sunday 26 March.

After an away fixture against Port Adelaide, Fremantle return home to host the reigning premiers before heading to the MCG for an Easter Saturday clash against Melbourne on 15 April.

Fremantle can settle in WA for a three-week stretch from rounds 5 to 7, starting with the annual Len Hall Game on 22 April.

It’s back to the MCG in Round 8 to play Richmond, followed by blockbuster home games against Collingwood and Carlton in Rounds 9 and 11, heading into the mid-season bye in Round 13.

Back-to-back home games in Round 17 and 18 against West Coast and Hawthorn highlight the second half of the season, wrapping up with a floating fixture in Round 23 with Fremantle playing Essendon at Etihad Stadium.

Earlier this month, the AFL confirmed that it will keep the pre-finals bye with week one of the finals series commencing on Thursday 7 September.
