Hayden Ballantyne is expected to commence running this week as he recovers from a hamstring injury, according to high performance manager Jason Weber.

After sustaining the injury in the JLT Community Series against Carlton, the small forward has continued to make positive progress.

“Ballas is now nearly two-weeks post-surgery and he’s doing really well,” Weber said.

“He’s moving around the gym quite freely and, hopefully, we get to have him back on the field and running towards the end of this week.”

Fellow forward Michael Apeness has started running as he progresses from a knee injury sustained in a pre-season game for Peel.

“Michael’s doing very well, “ Weber said.

“Obviously he’s picked up a significant knee injury, but he’s up and had a running session this week on our specialist treadmill for rehabbing players.

“He’s doing well, and we hope to have him moving along nice and quickly.”

Weber added that he expects Taylin Duman to bounce back quickly from an ankle injury picked up at training last week.

The injury is likely to see the rookie-listed defender miss another fortnight at WAFL level.

“Taylin’s jumped up pretty quickly,” Weber said.

“We hope within two weeks he’ll be back up and ready to play for Peel.”

Luke Ryan, who has also been battling an ankle injury, is expected to be available to feature in Peel’s clash with South Fremantle this weekend.

“Luke Ryan’s a test this week,” Weber said.

“As long as he gets through training, he’ll be ready to go.”
