The GWS GIANTS confirmed on Thursday that defender Nathan Wilson had requested a trade home to WA due to family reasons.

“Wilson is seeking a move to Western Australia to be closer to family and, despite being contracted to the GIANTS until the end of 2018, the club has agreed to use beat endeavours to facilitate a trade for the 24-year-old,” the GIANTS said in a statement on the club’s website.

GWS general manager of football Wayne Campbell said the GIANTS were “sympathetic to Nathan’s situation”.

Fremantle general manager of list management Brad Lloyd confirmed Wilson’s desire to return home and play for Fremantle.

“Nathan’s management has advised the club of his interest in returning to Perth and playing for Fremantle,” Lloyd said.
