Don’t be surprised if you run into a legion of players from Secret Harbour Football Club at Fremantle games in the future following their successful group booking venture to Freo’s round five clash with the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium.
Jacqui Thompson helped organise a group of 34 young footballers and family members to make the 70km journey north to Optus Stadium and hopes to do so again multiple times this season.
“The kids don’t normally get an opportunity to go to the football but the discounted group booking tickets made it really affordable for them,” Jacqui said.
“It was a lot cheaper than having their parents take them, so these girls got the chance to go and see the footy for the first time.”
The girls were in for a treat with Freo running out 54-point winners.
“It was an awesome win for Freo, we all had a really good time,” Jaqui said.
“We went there early too, because it was the Anzac day ceremony.
“We sat down and watched that, it was quite beautiful. The music beforehand, they got right into it.
If you are interested in organising a group booking with Fremantle please contact the club here, just as Jacqui did.
“I just emailed the club to find out how I could get a group of girls to the club and then straight away, Ghaz emailed back with the booking information and the different price tiers,” Jacqi said.
“From there it was really easy. Once we paid we got the tickets by email and we dispersed them to the families.
“We’ll absolutely be going again, we’re probably going to do it at least another two times this season.”
On the back of the introduction of the NAB AFL Women’s competition, Jacqui said that the club was booming with new girl players.
“It’s really is taking off,” Jacqui said.
“In our club we’ve gone from two teams from last year to four. In Auskick we’ve got a full team of girls as well. It’s been huge.”
