The Fremantle Dockers wrapped up their 2016 AFL Australia Post Community Camp on Tuesday, and Ethan Hughes said the trip to the Wheatbelt had been a memorable experience for him.

“I’m a country boy from Bunbury, but I always drove through these towns so to really see them was an eye opener for me,” Hughes said.

“The kids out here don’t get to see much of what we do, so it’s great to bring it back out here.”

It was an extensive but rewarding two days for Hughes and his teammates, as they covered the Wheatbelt and hosted an Auskick Super Clinic in Merredin.

The kids participated in goal kicking, tug of war, ball skills, and an autograph session with the Freo players as well as a bit of fun with Johnny ‘The Doc’.

“We’ve gone to a few schools and ran an Auskick Super Clinic for the kids in Merredin,” he said.

“We also tried to give our knowledge to the kids as well.

“We ran through what we do, our healthy choices, time commitments and other important things they can apply to their school life.”

The two-day community camp saw the Freo players cover more than 1000km and visit 17 schools in the Wheatbelt region.
