Fremantle Dockers ruckman Aaron Sandilands said he isn’t reflecting on the suspension that left him out of Freo’s round one match, but is focusing on the start of his season against the Gold Coast in Saturday’s Starlight Purple Haze game.

“It’s great to be back,” Sandilands said.

“Obviously (I was) disappointed not to play last week, but the season starts now for me.”

Freo fantasy fix: Rd 2 v Gold Coast

Sandilands didn’t shy away from his frustration about not being able to help the team in last week’s to the Western Bulldogs.

“It’s disappointing and frustrating,” he said.

“For any player that’s not playing the game, you can’t actually help your teammates out.

“We’re all disappointed with how we played on the weekend and look forward to bouncing back.”

Bouncing back for Sandilands means playing a Gold Coast side that he’s had great success against in recent memory, posting a career high 70 hit outs against the Suns in round 11 last season.

Who's in the mix for round two?

Despite not playing last week and in Freo’s last two pre-season games, Sandilands said he had no cause for concern about his fitness heading into his first game of 2016.

“It’s not as if I’ve been injured,” he said.

“We’ve got a lot of match simulation drills that we do.

“I’ve been able to do a fair amount of work whilst not playing.”
