Chris Mayne’s manic pressure in the forward line was back to its best against West Coast on Sunday.

Freo post solid win over the Eagles

The Fremantle forward laid four tackles, one of which set up a Cam Sutcliffe goal.

But injured teammate Hayden Ballantyne was not surprised watching from the sidelines.

“He’s an animal,” Ballantyne said.

“We all recognise how hard he is at tackling and chasing.”

Ballantyne believes the 26-year-old is back to the form that recognised him as on of the best pressure forwards in the competition.

“He came second in our best and fairest two years ago, exactly because of his forward pressure.

“It’s great he’s back to that and killing it.”

Mayne told fremantlefc.com.au following the match that having an uninterrupted pre-season has helped him improve his fitness.

“To see that my pressure acts are still there which is a thing that I pride myself on, was definitely pleasing,” he said
