The Fremantle fans want the best possible facilities that will give their club the best opportunity to attain success, both on and off the field, according to Fremantle Dockers captain Matthew Pavlich.

“The people that I’ve been talking to on the street just want the best for the playing group,” Pavlich said.

“They want success and with the best possible facilities there is almost a direct correlation to success.

“If we can get the best facilities, the most up-to-date, elite training venue, it can’t guarantee success, but it will give us the best opportunity.”

Pavlich said Freo’s current facilities were “substandard” compared to some of the AFL’s power clubs.

“We’ve seen some examples in the AFL with Collingwood and Hawthorn, who have gone away from their traditional suburban grounds and been completely successful,” he said.

“It highlights the need for the best facilities.

“For us to achieve what we want to do - have the best players and be the best team in the AFL - we can’t do that right here.”

Pavlich said Fremantle’s board and chief executive Steve Rosich had the full confidence of the playing group, regarding a decision on the location of Freo’s new elite training and administration facility.

“From the players’ perspective, all we want is the best opportunity to play well, and that’s both individually and as a team,” he said.

“The club has been really diligent in the process, whether it is here at Freo or at Cockburn Central West.

“What I can say is, we have complete faith, as players, in the board and our CEO, because what we’ve seen recently are really sound decisions made on the basis of really strong information.

“We’ll continue to back them in to make the right decisions.”

Whether it’s Fremantle or Cockburn Central West, Pavlich said he and the players were eager to see the process completed.

“Let’s hurry up and make that decision, wherever it is, and build it so we can get in there and get it going,” he said.
