Match Review Officer Michael Christian has handed down his findings from Sunday’s fiery Western Derby at Optus Stadium.

As expected, Andrew Gaff’s off-the-ball strike on Andrew Brayshaw during the third quarter has been sent directly to the tribunal.

Christian classified the incident as intentional conduct with severe impact and high contact, which is the highest possible grading in the Grading of Classifiable Offences table in the 2018 Tribunal Guidelines.

Earlier on Monday, Fremantle reported that Brayshaw’s season is over with a broken jaw and the 18-year-old midfielder will be unable to eat solid food for four weeks.

Fremantle defender Michael Johnson has been handed a $3000 fine for rough conduct against Gaff from an incident occurring in the final quarter.

Christian classified the incident as careless conduct, low impact and high contact.

In summary, Johnson can accept a $2000 fine with an early plea.

In other incidents from the game, Hayden Ballantyne has been fined $2500 fine for instigating a mellee, down to $1500 with an early plea.

Luke Ryan and Sean Darcy have both been fined $1500 each for engaging in a melee, down to $1000 each with an early plea.

West Coasts’ Liam Ryan was also charged for instigating a melee and can accept a fine of $1500 while Daniel Venables and Jeremy McGovern can accept a $1000 fine each for melee involvement.
