Ruckman Zac Clarke has had a setback in his expected return to playing while recovering from a persistent knee injury.

The 26-year-old, who had post-season surgery last year and again last week for fractures in the patella of his left knee, is likely to miss the first half of the season recovering from the injury.

Clarke said in January that he was hopeful of playing towards the end of the JLT Community Series after aggravating the injury in the gym last December.

“The medical advice we were provided after Zac’s recent surgery is that his rehabilitation phase means he will be available to resume full training in the second half of the season,” general manager of football operations Chris Bond said.

“We will continue to monitor and assess Zac’s progress regarding his likely return date.”
